Hello, Spring.

Hello, firelights!

It’s spring, my favorite time of year. My neck of the woods warms back up, and trees put on leaves. My flowerbeds are lush with fresh growth, and blooms start making the world more colorful and full of life. Sure, springtime comes with seasonal allergies and high winds, but I choose to look at the beauty of it all.

What can I say? Flowers make me happy.

For the longest time, fall was my favorite. Then, thanks to Batman’s fabulous mom and several of his equally fabulous aunts, I discovered gardening. Gradually, this autumn witch morphed into a spring enchantress.

A lot goes into maintaining and cultivating gardens. We pull weeds, plant seeds, pull weeds again, nurture the seeds, pull more weeds, and watch our seeds sprout and grow into something beautiful. Did I mention pulling weeds and possibly a few errant blades of misplaced grass? It’s a never-ending battle, at least in my flowerbeds.

In gardening, you win some and you lose some. Each plant has unique soil, sunlight, and watering requirements. Sometimes, you can give that plant everything the experts say it needs, and it still doesn’t work. It’s then that you change directions and try something new and different.

There’s a life lesson in there somewhere.

Spring is a time of change and renewal for the earth and for us. It’s a recharge, a reminder that not only are we capable of change, but change can often be beautiful, good, right, and exciting.

Like the world around us, we’re not meant to stay static. We’re meant to have highs and lows, to grow and evolve, and to adjust once we learn new things or start a new hobby or skill.

Isn’t it marvelous to know we’re capable of change?

Changing my habits, including how I talk to and treat myself, propelled me to finally execute a lifelong dream. Now I have four published books under my belt, and more to come!

Learning a new hobby completely altered what time of year I most look forward to.

Hello, Spring. Thank you for the vivid colors, the longer daylight, and for reminding us that change can be such a good and beautiful thing.

Love and light!

  4. What information technologies could we use to make it easier to keep track of when new blog posts were made and which blog posts we had read and which we haven’t read? Please be precise.
